Director and Founder of Girl Native, Rawinia is passionate about bringing Māori values to the world through her beauty brand Girl Native. Rawinia is of Whakatohea, Ngāti Kahungunu, Ngāti Raukawa, and Rangitane descent. Growing up in the small country town of Ōpōtiki, she found a sense of belonging on her tūrangawaewae, her whānau land in Omarumutu.

Her journey to creating Girl Native is closely connected to her tikanga Māori values, her whānau, her whenua, and her whakapapa.

Girl Native is a luxurious ethical skincare brand infused with healing and purpose, the knowledge of Rawinia’s tipuna - Ancestors, and the beauty of the natural world, each product is a retreat in a jar, a way to reconnect with peace and tranquility while fostering a slow beauty mindset.

Rawinia’s business journey started at Te Wananga O Aoteroa Porirua with a Money Management, Small Business Management, Business Growth & Development and Project Management Qualifications.

Girl Native is now an internationally recognised brand that has received multiple awards including Best Inclusive Makeup Product at The Global Pure Beauty Awards in Amsterdam in 2020 for its BB Cream, and its Coffee Body Scrub was a runner-up in the Best Natural Skincare category at The Pure Beauty Awards in London in 2019. Girl Native was included as one of the products in celebrities’ swag bags at the Emmy Awards in Los Angeles.
